| The mission of the DST is the development of science and technology expressed through the enabling mechanism of the National System of Innovation for communities, researchers, industry and government. The DST is committed to encouraging innovation in South Africa by playing an active role as facilitator and strategic investor. In line with its prominent focus on youth the DST also aims at getting more young people interested in science and technology by promoting awareness and public understanding of science and technology and supporting science and technology education. Through its management of the country’s science system, the department continues to strive towards introducing measures that put science and technology to work to impact on growth and development in a sustainable manner, in areas that matter to all the people of South Africa |
